There are many motivations in life that drive people to do what they do. In the movie "Extraordinary Measures," Harrison Ford plays Robert Stonehill, an eccentric scientist who may have a cure for a rare disease.
John Crowley desperately desires a cure for his kids, but Professor Stonehill needs funding. Stonehill decides they need to become partners.
Professor Stonehill says to Crowley, "I can find anyone in a business suit to help me raise venture capital, but who's going to be half as motivated as someone trying to save his own kids." This drive helped them succeed.
Proverbs 16:26 teaches, "The laborer's appetite works for him; his hunger drives him on." Appetites can be for other things besides food.
When you're hiring someone consider what drives them before extending an offer.
