Bad Judgment
June 24, 2011
By: Rick Boxx

Congressman Anthony Weiner caused quite a stir with his online sexual escapades and his stubborn refusal to resign. Yet, according to a Crimson Hexagon analysis of online buzz about whether he should stay or resign, 33% thought he should remain in Congress.

One quote that was mentioned said, “Bad judgment doesn’t mean he should resign. He is a very good Congressman, and that is more important.” This quote is perplexing. Isn’t a primary characteristic necessary to be a good Congressman, judgment?

Proverbs 6:32-33 teaches, “But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself and his shame will never be wiped away.” According to Jesus’ definition of adultery Mr. Weiner’s actions likely qualifies.

Isn’t it time that the standards for our nation’s leaders include good judgment?
