Avoiding Profits
By: Rick Boxx
March 26, 2012

Eric is preparing for his release from prison. As his mentor, Eric wanted my opinion on whether or not he should go back to running the business he started, that his daughter now runs.

This business buys junk cars and sells the metal. Occasionally a tow truck driver delivers cars that later must be returned because the car has been stolen. Eric said, “I don’t want my parole officer asking why I have a stolen car on my property.”

I was reminded of Ephesians 5:3, “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”

To avoid even a hint of impropriety, sometimes we need to walk away from something profitable.
