Out of Control
by Rick Boxx
March 5, 2010

Terry Hoskins, a businessman in Ohio, had been fighting a losing battle with his bank and the IRS. The bank was in the process of foreclosing on his home when he had enough.

According to the Washington Post, Mr. Hoskins bulldozed his $350,000 home rather than let the bank have it. It seems to me he was desperate to regain some degree of control over his hopeless situation.

In John 19, Jesus would not respond to Pilate. Pilate tried to persuade Jesus to speak by threatening to use Pilate's authority to crucify Jesus. Jesus' response in verse 11 was, "You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above."

When you feel like gaining control, or overusing your authority, remember where all authority comes from, and submit to Him.
