Burning Money

Avon Products has been conducting an internal investigation for more than 2 years into their employees’ bribery of foreign officials. Their research continues to grow and surface more wrongdoing.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Avon has spent over $200 million just in investigation expenses. For any size business, that’s a staggering amount of money just for examining the evil within.

Isaiah 9:18 says, “Surely wickedness burns like a fire; it consumes briers and thorns, it sets the forest thickets ablaze, so that it rolls upward in a column of smoke.”

Some businesses have the philosophy that it’s better to grow sales at any expense and clean up the mess later. I suspect Avon would now agree, prevention is much cheaper than the cure.
