Back on the Road
By: Rick Boxx
November 1, 2011

My car was at the bottom of a ditch. I needed a tow truck, but as a poor teenager I had no money. Humbly, I called my friend’s grandfather. Approaching my car, he asked, “How did this happen?”

After recounting my escapades, this man of few words summarized my foolishness. “So,” he said, “You were proud, drunk, stupid, and you’re broke?”

Stinging from his rebuke I quietly said, “Yes, sir.”

“Now that you understand your foolishness” he replied, “Let’s get you back on the road.”

James 5:20 teaches, “Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.”

Sometimes we land in a ditch. Thank God for those who rebuke us, then help us get back on the road.
