Unexpected Graciousness

The second Presidential Debate of 2016 felt like a street fight rather than a debate as each candidate repeatedly pummeled the other verbally. Then, unexpectedly, there was a moment of graciousness.

A man asked each candidate to share one thing about the other candidate that they admired. Surprisingly, both candidates took the question seriously and answered with a legitimate response.

King Saul tried to kill David for almost 15 years. Yet, in 2 Samuel 1:23 after Saul’s and Jonathan’s death, David graciously wrote, “Saul and Jonathan— in life they were loved and admired, and in death they were not parted. They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.”

In business, graciousness to our competitors can be rare, but it builds our reputation and reveals the nature of God.
