Blind Spots
By: Rick Boxx
September 15, 2011

An Emotional Intelligence test once pointed out that I have a hard time accepting blame. If something goes wrong I can easily go into protective mode, looking for ways to deflect the blame to someone else.

Accepting responsibility for mistakes can be painful and hard for the ego to handle. It can create a blind spot in our life.

Psalm 36:1-2 teaches, “An oracle is within my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin.”

The workplace brings lots of opportunities for us to be blinded to our own misdeeds. I’ve learned that occasional self- reflection and surrounding yourself with a loving truth teller can help.
