In the book, “The CEO Next Door,” the authors did a deep dive on survey data to determine what attributes surfaced for successful CEOs. Their findings debunked several CEO Myths.
One myth that the researchers shattered was that “experience trumps all.” Research revealed that first time CEOs were no less likely to meet or exceed expectations than those with prior CEO experience.
In summary, the past experiences of new CEOs can be adequate training for good performance.
Joshua was a new leader, but he had 40 years of experience following in Moses’ footsteps. After Joshua’s first big battle, we read in Joshua 6:7, “So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.”
