Dream word – LISTEN

Ezekiel 33:4,5

“Then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be on his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, but did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning will save his life.” NKJV

The Foulis foghorn and the fools that don’t listen

The Glaswegien Robert Foulis was born in Scotland in 1796. Devastated by the death of his first wife whilst giving birth to their daughter, Foulis decided to leave those sad Scottish shores and start a new life in America. Heading for Ohio, it was rough weather that never the less forced his ship ashore in Nova Scotia Canada. Bad weather, the sea, and the providence of God, took him from old Scotland to New Scotland.

Foulis eventually settled in Saint John and here this talented inventor and business entrepreneur, for quite some time, blessed himself, his family and his community. You see, at that time, Foulis was not the only person wanting to start a new life in the new world. No, ship-loads of European immigrants would enter North America through the Saint John Harbour and would initially be housed (from 1785-1942) at the very first quarantine station of Partridge Island. It was on this desperate island gateway, for well over two thousand people died there, that Foulis the inventor erected a warning signal that would save thousands of other people’s lives. The Foulis steam foghorn.

It is said that Foulis heard his daughter playing piano in the distance on a foggy night, and noticed that the low notes were more audible than the higher notes. Low frequency sound is more audible than high frequency to the human ear, and when fog as thick as molasses can even block the strongest of lights, the haunting sound of a low frequency fog horn, can keep a captain safe, can guide a sailor home.

When we learn to feel into the spiritual realm, when we learn to receive through the feelings of our soul the sensations of our spirit, the context and contact of the spiritual realm if you will, then we too, on cold and fog bound days, shall hear the warm low frequency bellow of many a heavenly fog horn, many a guardian sentinel placed by the great God of all waters there for our guidance, there for our help, for our health and for our protection. Truly then I can say to some of you mariners this night, some of you tired sailors seeking out a new world, blown off your course into foggy seas and rocky coasts, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Listen: And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, ‘Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!’” - Revelation 8:13 NKJV

Pray: Lord, let me not be counted as a fool. Where You have made me a sentinel and even a watchman to the house of Israel, make me a loud and fearless open mouth. Lord, when I am in need of hearing warnings and receiving guidance, give me big and flapping, open ears, in Jesus name I ask these things, amen!
