Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” (2 Kings 4:6)
This woman was the godly wife of a faithful prophet. Sadly, however, the long finger of Death had touched her home. Because she was now a widow, her status had changed. In a world without any relief agencies, she was as good as dead. Elisha asked her, “What do you have in the house?” The widow handed over her meager amount of oil to serve the purposes of God. Then, she collected all of the jars she could find. Resupply continues when you prepare with great expectations. If you expect something from God, you need to put out your jars.
In Living in the In-Between Times, Pastor Ralph Douglas West brings the story of the Old Testament prophet Samuel to life, showing you how God speaks in your “in betweens” and what it looks like to live faithfully in these seasons of waiting and wondering.
