Then I looked . . . and a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it. (Ezekiel 1:4)
The wings of the living creatures in Ezekiel’s vision displayed God’s energy in nature—that is, how God can effortlessly get to you wherever you are by moving to and fro or forwards and backwards. This was symbolic of the all-powerful presence of God. Therefore, even in Babylon, in isolation with relocation, the change of vocation and loss of his companion, Ezekiel realized that God is still all powerful. In other words, in man’s weakness, God is at His strongest.
In Living in the In-Between Times, Pastor Ralph Douglas West brings the story of the Old Testament prophet Samuel to life, showing you how God speaks in your “in betweens” and what it looks like to live faithfully in these seasons of waiting and wondering.
