Improper Focus

today's reading.
Judges 9:22-57  Abimelech ruled over Israel three years. And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the leaders of Shechem...

Abimelech was self-centered, ruthless, power hungry and prideful. His focus was on himself, and he didn't care one bit about hurting or killing anyone else to get what he wanted. That was the scenario at the start of Judges 9 and it played out again today as we concluded the chapter. My heart was heavy as I took in this sad ending to a tragic story.
