Beautiful Design

today's reading.
Genesis 1:26-31    Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth"...
Genesis 1:26-31

think about it.
What was God's design for the family? What makes each person valuable? How does God provide for human families? God said that it was good; what does His approval mean to you?

the blog.
I was traveling last week and spent quite a bit of time just looking at and watching people. I couldn't help but be amazed at how similar we are, yet at the same time, so incredibly unique. Kind of cool. Now as I was doing this people watching, I had just read Genesis 1:26-31 (working ahead on my blogs for the holiday weekend), and verse 27 had gotten my attention. "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."

I asked myself What does it mean for me that I was created in God's image? And What does that tell me about how God views people and, more specifically, me? And then What does this verse tell me about how I should view and value others? Overall, it was a good exercise because I don't think about my creation very often. I pondered a number of things, but the biggie for me was that it made me realize that I need to be more appreciative, more respectful, of who God has made me to be--my personality, the way I look physically, my gifting, etc.

So would you think about verse 27 today and ask yourself the questions I did above and any others that come to mind for you? Then if you're up for it, share your thoughts and tell us what God showed you today. Tami W.
