Today's reading: 1 Timothy 1:1-11

With the start of a new week, we're starting a new book in the New Testament, and it's an excellent one, full of practical life lessons. As we begin 1 Timothy, Paul is charging Timothy to be on the alert for false teaching while he works alongside other believers and helps to establish the church at Ephesus.

Paul was a mighty force for Christ as he preached the Gospel and helped start churches across the land. But although he was a confident, strong-willed, and independent person, Paul didn't operate as a "lone wolf." He had a network of Godly friends who supported, helped, and encouraged him in many different ways. Paul and Timothy had a special relationship. Paul was Timothy's spiritual teacher and mentor, and there was a strong bond of friendship between them. We would all do well to have at least one relationship like the one we see between these two men.

On a scale from 1-10, how important is it to you to have Christian friends, and why? How have you benefited from having a Godly mentor or being one? Having Christian friends? Working together with other believers to accomplish a project or task? Tami
