Celebration and Dedication
Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites in all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to celebrate the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings and singing, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps. - Nehemiah 12:27
Incredibly, the time had come for the wall of Jerusalem to be dedicated. After all the teaching of the Scriptures, listening to God’s Word, meditation on it, praying and worshiping the Lord, God brought about a revival among His people. As they had spoken to the Lord, they had waited on Him to speak. They were allowing God to fill them. In this beautiful chapter the Lord is honored among them; He is lifted up.
As we read the Scriptures, pray and worship the Lord, may He bring us into a place of a real consciousness of the majesty of Christ. When we come before Him, there should be a true reverence, humiliation and a separation of our lives to the Lord. Philippians 2:10-11 reveals the supremacy of Christ:
…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Knowing that Christ is Lord should cause us to serve Him with all of our hearts. We not only need to love Him, but we need to learn all about Him. Our obedience to Christ should be a response to His love, as He has freely given to us all that we need in life: His [Christ] divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness (2 Peter 1:3 NIV). Does your life bring honor and glory to Christ?
Give to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!
