Divine Intervention

So David fled and escaped, and went to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth. Now it was told Saul, saying, “Take note, David is at Naioth in Ramah!”  Then Saul sent messengers to take David. And when they saw the group of prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as leader over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
1 Samuel 19:18-20

David fled to the Prophet Samuel at Ramah, which was 10 miles north of Jerusalem. He stayed at Naioth, known as the school of the prophets. Saul’s sin of jealousy had blinded him; his stubbornness kept him on a road of rampage in opposition to God’s will and plans, and, in utter rebellion against God, he had murder in his heart.

Who could stop Saul from his mission of madness? God! His Spirit came upon the messengers of Saul, and they prophesied. Through God’s divine intervention, David remained safe from Saul. You would think Saul would see that no matter how hard he tried to kill David, God protected him.

God protects His servants. When the Apostle Paul started to preach the Gospel in Jerusalem, 40 Jews took a solemn oath to neither eat nor drink until they had murdered him. They set a plan in motion and to ask a Roman Commander to bring Paul back to the Jewish Council for further questioning. Then, as Paul traveled, they would ambush him (Acts 23:12-15).

Paul’s nephew overheard the plot of the Jews. He went immediately to the barracks and told Paul, who told a centurion, who then took his nephew to see the commander. He said: “Don’t breathe a word of this to a soul” (Acts 23:22 MSG). Then the captain made sure Paul remained safe (Acts 23:23-24). We never have to fear men when God is on our side.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.
~Isaiah 54:17~
