The Natural and Spiritual Man

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.- 1 Corinthians 2:14-15

Paul gave to us doctrines that are very important. He spoke about the natural man––a person ruled by their body appetites, who does not understand the things of God. Man was created by God––spirit, soul and body––the spirit being dominant. When man sinned the body became dominant, so the order changed to––body, soul, then spirit. When a person is born again (John 3:5), the original order is restored back to––body, soul and body.

Christians have become regenerated, transformed and redeemed. They are justified by faith. A person having the Holy Spirit within them can now understand the things of God (John 14:17). We are so rich in Christ, not with money or material things, but with the spiritual things that God has given to us–––His love, grace and mercy. We are super rich––billionaires in the kingdom of God.

When we share the Gospel with other people, it is by the power of God’s Spirit working in our lives. They see the power of God in our speech and the way we act and come to Christ. Yet, some non-believers may get mad at us when we share with them about God. They may say, “Do not talk to me; I do not want to hear it!” But honestly, they do not understand––they are lost souls. We must continue to faithfully pray for them. If only they knew who they were rejecting. It is not us, they are rejecting Christ.

So, if a person will not accept what you are saying, do not get offended.  Everything has to do with Christ, not you. Do not get hurt. Know that you are called to be a disciple of Jesus Christ––period.

I could not bear to be an ‘ignoramus’ or an ‘agnostic’ about God! I must have a God! I cannot do without him.
~C. H. Spurgeon~
