Having the Mind of Christ

For “Who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?”But we have the mind of Christ. - >1 Corinthians 2:16

Paul tells us that we have the mind of Christ. Only those who have been born again of the Holy Spirit have the mind of Christ. We have His knowledge, wisdom and discernment. God will use people whose lives are full of the Holy Spirit! Understand, we are accountable and responsible to the Lord for the knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures.

The Apostle John spoke a lot about the Holy Spirit, especially in John 13-16. He also introduced the truth about sin, righteousness and the Devil (1John 3:4-10).  As Christians, we have become empowered by the Holy Spirit to overcome the world, the flesh and the Devil (1 John 5:4). We are set apart and have become holy to the Lord. People around us will see a genuine transformation of our lives.  They should not be stumbled by our carnality––our fleshly behavior––but as they see the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives, they will be drawn to Christ and even convicted of their own sin.

Years ago, when I got saved, the Lord reminded me that I cannot convert anybody; it is the work of the Holy Spirit. What is the first thing He does? The Holy Spirit is “with” that person; He will not leave them alone. He convicts them of their sin. When a person accepts Jesus as their Savior, the Holy Spirit dwells “in” them. Then the Holy Spirit comes “upon” them He and gives them the power to overcome sin and live the Christian life.

Eventually, everyone will come to a place where they will have to make a decision about Christ. They will either accept Jesus or reject Him. They will repent and become born again of the Holy Spirit, or they will continue to walk in their old, sinful life.

The mind of the unregenerate man can easily hear and mentally comprehend the facts set forth in the gospel, but only the Spirit of God can make the inward man experience the spiritual power of those truths.
