How Much He Loves You
When you see the Bible, what do you think? Honestly, its just me and you here.
Do you see anger and fighting and clashes over religion?
Do you see a phone-book size rulebook?
Do you see a complicated picture of God?
I'll tell you what I see, or am beginning to see, when I see the Bible.
I see it as the heart of God. Like, if you could ask God or know what God is really like.
I see it as a continuing story. The story of a God who created you and me as special creatures above all creation. Created in His image.
The story continues with a people (you and me again) who chose sin over life with God. You know what sin does. It produces evil and violence and all the wicked things you see in the world.
It chains people to addictions like drugs and alcohol and doesn't let go.
It rips a hole in families and leaves moms and dads divorced and angry and kids in the middle of a mess.
It murders and rapes and steals and lies and cheats its way into the fabric of our cities and suburbs.
But the story doesn't end with sin, that's the great part. The story ends, or rather continues, with God's love.
How much does God love? God actually defines love. He did that by sending what was precious to Him, his son Jesus Christ, to this earth. Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for sin. He then rose again from the grave, defeating the power of sin. And he offers you and me real life, eternal life, in Jesus Christ so we can live a life apart from sin.
God did this just for you. He is pursuing you and wants you to be one of His children.
So when you feel unloved, unforgiven, unworthy, know this.
No matter what anyone says to you, you are loved by the God of the Universe.
And his opinion—it's the only one that matters.
