A Place in the Kingdom - Today with Allen Jackson - October 30, 2019

1 Timothy 1:12-13

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man.

If you think God doesn’t want you because of your language, your morals, or your anger issues, I want you to know that He is the very place to begin. The Apostle Paul, perhaps the greatest human advocate for God’s Kingdom the world has ever known, said to Timothy, “God called me when I spoke profanely against Him and persecuted His Church and killed His people.” The word “gospel” means “good news.” And the good news of the gospel is that God makes it possible for flawed, imperfect, broken people to be transformed and welcomed into His Kingdom. That’s my story. That’s your story. We’ve made mistakes, but we are not mistakes. We’ve failed, but we are not failures. God wants to release His almighty power toward you and me to give us a new future. He has a great plan for our lives!

Heavenly Father, how grateful I am that You can take each of us, even the most vile and evil of us, and make us Your own beloved children. Thank You that I can be useful in Your Kingdom, no matter my past. I yield my life to You, for your purposes to emerge. I am trusting Your plan for my life, in spite of my inconsistencies and failures, for You are a great God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
