CITIZENSHIP IN HEAVEN
Our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.
I have a little blue passport that says I am a citizen of the United States. And with that citizenship come certain rights and privileges. I am very grateful for that. But I am far more grateful that I am a citizen of the Kingdom of God. The Bible refers to the fact that our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and that ultimately, when we stand before the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords, we will be judged by whether or not our name is there. Citizenship in the kingdom of God is more than being a church member, a religious person, a moralist, or even a person with high ethical values. Citizenship in the kingdom of God comes when we trust in Jesus of Nazareth as our Savior and our Lord. And the rights and privileges that come with that citizenship are beyond compare.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of being a citizen of Your Kingdom, with all the rights and privileges that conveys. Thank You for what that means in my life. Help me to share with others the blessing they will receive when they choose to follow You. May Your Kingdom be extended in my generation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
