Colossians 3:13 (NIV®)
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Forgiveness is very important to God. When God says forgive, He doesn’t mean just to forgive someone when you’re in a generous mood or only when someone apologizes and asks for your forgiveness. He said if anybody has offended you in any way, forgive them. That’s not excusing what happened—perhaps the person should have done better. But God knows that resentment and bitterness will wear you down. He wants you to let it go and wipe the slate clean, just as He has done for us.
Father in heaven, how grateful I am for the forgiveness You have shown to me through Christ, forgiveness I did not deserve but you gave freely. Help me to show that same spirit of love and generosity to those I feel may have offended me in some way. Have mercy on me, oh God, according to Your great compassion! In Jesus’ name, amen.
