Keeping Eternity in Mind - Today with Allen Jackson - December 7, 2017

Romans 12:2

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Spiritually, you and I are in one of two categories. The trajectory of our lives suggests we are either being conformed to the standards of this current age or we are being changed by adapting to a standard of another age. One of those two things is being made evident in your life, and it has to do predominantly with your will. One of the unique attributes of a human being is that God created us with a free will, and He will not violate it. We have to choose which age will predominate our thoughts, our values, our hopes, our dreams. Will we be fully invested in this age, which is coming to a conclusion? Or will we invest ourselves in the eternal things of God? If I could interview your coworkers, your neighbors, or your closest friends, what would they say about you? Are you being conformed to this age, or being transformed more completely into the image of Jesus? Let’s live so that there will be no doubt in our minds—or theirs.

Heavenly Father, I want to live with an eternal focus. I pray that You and Your purposes will predominate my thoughts. I pray that my actions would draw more attention to You than to me. May I live in such a way that all would know You are my priority in this life and the next. In Jesus’ name, amen.
