Joshua 3:5 (NIV®)
Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.”
Consecration is a big word that simply means to set yourself apart to God. When Joshua got ready to lead the children of Israel into the Promised Land, God said, “That’s your inheritance. I’ve given it to you and your children forever.” But before they could live in the Promised Land they had to cross the flooded Jordan River and then actually go to war to occupy their inheritance. Before they started that process, Joshua said, “Take three days, and consecrate yourself. Get yourself ready. Prepare your hearts.” He knew they would need God’s blessing in order to fulfill His plan for them. We too should cultivate the mindset of setting ourselves apart for Him because we are not just business people or family people, we are people of God who need His direction and blessing in order to fulfill His purposes for our lives.
Heavenly Father, I yield my life to You. Having a part in Your plan for the earth will be my highest honor and greatest reward. Lord, show me where You are at work in my world and how I can be a part of that. I ask this in the name of Jesus, amen.
