Standing Together

Ephesians 2:19-22 (NIV®)

You are... members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

An effective, vibrant, and growing church that results in transformed lives is no more an accident than a productive garden or a well-disciplined child. It’s because a group of people intentionally stand together, with Jesus as their cornerstone and the Holy Spirit as their guide, and trust God and work together for that outcome. The reality is there are more unchurched people in our communities today than ever before. And it’s almost impossible to watch the news without seeing acts of almost unimaginable hatred. A local task force, an international coalition, a political or military response—none of those things will bring victory beyond the values that are foundational to the Church of Jesus Christ. I have never known a greater need for the churches of Jesus Christ to have a voice than in this season, so let’s stand together in unity and work for His purposes.

Heavenly Father, although You are shaking all things which can be shaken, You have a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. I choose to trust in and rely on You. May Your church rise up and be the Body of Christ in our communities and around the world. May Your purposes be fulfilled in the earth. Come, Lord Jesus. In His name I pray, amen.
