There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
We are often confused about how we think of sin. We think that God says “Don’t do that” because He doesn’t want us to have too much fun. But when God warns us away from something, it’s because that behavior will destroy us. Sin is presented by evil, and evil will take advantage of any opportunity to wedge its way into our lives. Evil doesn’t play fair; it promises something it can’t deliver and delivers destruction instead. The destruction may be emotional or physical or financial—or all three. We must have the courage to lovingly tell people the truth about sin because it will destroy them. God warns us for our own good, and we must warn others for their own good. That’s what true friends do.
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me enough to warn me away from things that lead to destruction. Holy Spirit, give me discernment to see evil for what it is, no matter how it is packaged and presented. May my actions bring honor to You and build up Your people and Your Kingdom. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.
