We Have a Problem

>1 Peter 2:24 (NIV®)

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness.

One of the roles and responsibilities of the Church of Jesus Christ is to say to the world, “We have a sin problem, and we need a Savior.” This is a challenge because we live in an age where tolerance is the ultimate virtue. Tolerance used to mean that we could hold different opinions and still deal with one another with respect. It has come to mean that there is no right and wrong—that you should have my permission, even my blessing, to do whatever you want to do. But that is not the message of Scripture. There is no point in the crucifixion and resurrection if sin is not a problem. We have a responsibility before Almighty God to say there is right and wrong—not in condemnation or judgment but in love and concern. We must have the courage to say, “We have a sin problem, and we need a Savior. Do you know Him?”

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You that You sent a Savior who gave His life that mine might be transformed. I repent of all my sins. Thank You that sin’s mastery over my life was broken through the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross. Open my heart and mind to what Jesus has done for me. Holy Spirit, grant me a fresh revelation of my Lord and Redeemer. In Jesus’ name, amen.
