A Conservative Revival in England
Here's some good news to counteract the stories about a homosexual Episcopal bishop and same-sex marriages.
The Church of England is about to be taken over by theologically conservative evangelicals. The London Daily Telegraph reports that this one-time minority will makeup more than half of all Sunday church worshippers in ten years if current trends continue.
As evangelicals grow in the Church of England, liberals and Anglo-Catholics are in decline.
According to Dr. Peter Brimley, a former government statistician who heads a group called Christian Research, these theologically conservative people oppose sex outside of marriage, and many of the other modern trends that have infected the church.
The problem in England where fewer than two percent attend church is that for too long the church has been seen as irrelevant precisely because it has offered people something other than the life-changing gospel of Christ.
Maybe this new trend back to the truth will ignite revival fires in England. It is something worth praying about.
