Al Gore’s Hot Air

June 5, 2006

Are you as tired of Al Gore as I am? Do you think he is contributing to global warming with all of his hot air? Who made him a climatologist and an expert? Or is this all about politics and more regulation of our lives?

Back in the 70’s, Newsweek magazine featured a cover story about global cooling. It wondered if another ice age was approaching. Now they’re on the other side. Then, they quoted scientists to support the theory of global cooling. Now, they quote scientists to support the theory of global warming.

The media treat this as fact. Before leaving the today show, Katie Couric had on an oil executive – I think he was the chairman of Shell – who claimed the facts about global warming are irrefutable. It may have been the only time an oil company executive was treated kindly by a network host.

Al Gore is an opportunist, embracing an issue and making it his, but with a political agenda. He calls his little film “an inconvenient truth.” I worry when politicians discover righteousness and think they know better than everyone else and that they are the only ones who can save our souls. I think Al Gore is inconvenient and is not speaking truth.
