Some follow-up to yesterday's commentary about certain truths in the Middle East: Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem. In 1948, Arab refugees were encouraged by Arab leaders to leave Israel. They promised to purge the land of Jews. 68 percent left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier. Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms. Arab refugees were intentionally not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, but Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel.
The Arab-Israeli conflict: the Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation which, by the way, is a democracy. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. The PLO charter calls for the destruction of Israel. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and are accessible to all.
