It took awhile, but the government is finally moving against some of the so-called Islamic charities in this country, which allegedly support terrorists.
Benevolence International Foundation and its director were charged yesterday with perjury and accused of supporting terrorists, including a man who allegedly tried to acquire nuclear weapons for Osama bin Laden.
The charity's director, Enaam M. Arnaot, has had a relationship with bin Laden, dating back more than a decade, according to an affidavit filed with the complaint. Arnaut was arrested in a Chicago suburb on charges that he and the charity made false statements in a lawsuit against the government.
There are plenty of front groups in this country that do not belong here. Many preach sedition against the United States and all preach hatred toward Israel. They don't deserve tax exemptions and they certainly don't deserve to remain in this country if their purpose is to support violence. At last the government is rooting them out and the sooner it finds the rest of them, the better. I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
