The Appearance of God in Politics
You can tell it's election season when God begins showing up in candidates' speeches.
Howard Dean says he believes in Jesus - a democratic version, who helps people and hates hypocrisy. Wesley Clarke says he believes in Jesus and, though a Catholic, frequently visits Presbyterian and Methodist churches. Pat Robertson says God has told him that President Bush will win in a blowout.
People who fall for this stuff - and many do - don't know their Bible. Paul warned the time would come when men will not put up with sound doctrine, but will surround themselves with teachers who tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.
God does not favor republicans over democrats. He sets leadership in place for his own purposes, because his ways are high above man's ways.
It is fiction to suggest that Bill Clinton, or Saddam Hussein for that matter, were mistakes and that somehow God's will was not done. Scripture teaches
God uses even bad leadership to judge his people. Remember Nebuchadnezzer, Herod, Pilate, Nero? Look it up.
