Men's Luncheon at Harrisburg Baptist Church

Dr. Ray Pritchard
Today I spoke at the monthly men’s luncheon at Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo. I was pleasantly surprised to see 60-70 men gather for the meal and brief message. Most of the retired men came at 11:30 AM for the meal while quite a few of the younger men came in right at 12 noon. I had a good chat with Pastor Forrest Sheffield and also with Associate Pastor David David Langerfeld. I also saw several men from the Thursday night Bible study that I’ve been teaching since last September. Ricky Jackson attends the Bible study and is in charge of arranging speakers for the monthly men’s luncheon. Today I spoke about the qualities of the godly leadership from 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. I mentioned a sermon I preached in which I discussed those 25 character qualities: Portrait of a Godly Leader

The research behind that sermon became the foundation for a book called Man of Honor that was published at the height of the Promise Keepers movement. Tony Evans wrote the forward and the book contains endorsements from Tom Landry, Joe Stowell, Bob Briner, Tim LaHaye, Dave Dravecky and a number of other well-known Christian leaders. It’s the only book I’ve written especially for men. Just last week Tom Phillips told me he plans to use the book in his men’s discipleship ministry at Word of Life Florida.
