Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor.

--Proverbs 3:34

It’s important for you and me to remember that throughout history, God identifies with… and reveals Himself to… the humble.

When Jesus came to earth to deliver us from our sins, He was born as a vulnerable child to a teenage couple in a stable. And the first people to hear of His birth were shepherds, the social outcasts of their day! Jesus made His home with the most humble people He could find.

Later on in His life, Jesus spent His time seeking out and caring for the needy and soft-hearted. When He found them, He healed their sicknesses and shared a message of hope with them. He just loved everyday people!

That’s encouraging for people like you and me, because Jesus is still like that today. He still wants to identify with, and reveal Himself to, men and women who will humbly come to Him. He will never turn away someone who asks for His forgiveness and help.

So if you need to ask God for His help… or His forgiveness… remember what the writer of Hebrews says: “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (4:16).

Jesus will never turn away someone who asks for His forgiveness and help.
