Sunday School Lesson: Growing Like a Seed

Sunday School Lesson Introduction: Growing like a seed

I'm sure some of you know what this is; it's a packet of seeds. (Open and pour out seeds in your hand.) Do you know what seeds do? That's right – they grow to become plants and flowers and even trees! Isn't that amazing – that a little seed like this could become a big plant, or even a great tree?

Do you want to know something else that's amazing? You can be just like a seed – you can grow up to be something great!

Jesus said that if we had faith as great as a mustard seed – a tiny seed, much smaller than these – that even if we had that kind of faith, God could use us in a wonderful way.

You see, God takes our faith and plants it, just like these seeds. His love and His power help that faith to grow stronger and stronger, and then He is able to use us to serve Him in very special and exciting ways.

Sunday School Lesson Conclusion

Who knows what God is going to do with the seeds right here? Some of you may grow up to be doctors or lawyers ... some may start great businesses or become tremendous teachers ... some of you may be called by God to become ministers or missionaries. There's just no telling what God can do with your life when you'll give Him your faith and allow Him to help you grow.

As you leave church today and look around you – at the flowers and plants and trees – think about the tiny seeds where they all started. Then thank God for what He is going to do in your life as you grow up in Him.
