An active faith

Josh. 2:1: Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. "Go, look over the land," he said, "especially Jericho." So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there (NIV).

When the king of Jericho heard there were spies in his land, he sent a message to Rahab to bring out the Israelites in her house. Rahab had hidden them on her roof, but told the king's men they had already left. The king's men left to pursue them. Rahab told the spies she knew their God was the God of heaven and earth and asked them to spare her family when they came back to take the city. They agreed and she lowered them down from her window so they could escape to the hills.

Belief in God was Rahab's first step of faith. But she didn't stop there. She acted on what she knew and, as a result, her faith was recognized hundreds of years later in Hebrews 11.

Teach your kids that it's not what you know, but what you do with what you know that is important.
