How Far Is Heaven: The Best of Salvador

reviewed by Andree Farias
Style: Latin pop/rock/funkTop Tracks: "Lord I Come Before You," "Alegria," "Aware"

In a nutshell: Hard to believe that it's been a decade since Salvador first appeared—wowing critics and concertgoers with a fiery fiesta of Latin, pop, rock, and funk blend that's more befitting a SXSW showcase than CCM playlists. Since the group is more driven by entire bodies of work, not singles, it's nearly futile to anthologize their six-album discography. How Far Is Heaven at least tries, including a number of essential tracks from the powerhouse. However, the CD also criminally omits a series of key tunes like "David Danced," "Now That I Have You," "This Is My Life," and the concert favorite, "Montaña." It's far from Heavenly, but a few new tracks at least make up for the damage.
