Secret Faults
"Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults." Psalm 19:12
I read an account of Michelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel. In the story, he was painting in a corner behind everyone's view. Someone said to him, "Forget that area; no one can see it anyway," as if to say, "Who will even know it's there?" But Michelangelo replied, "I know it's there."
What you are in secret is what you are — nothing more or nothing less.
Through the years, I've spoken with men and women who travel frequently and are out of town a good bit. In almost every motel there are R-rated and X-rated films available, and the temptation is to think, "It won't matter. Nobody's in here but me."
Oh? Are you sure about that? Jesus is in that room. What you are in that room when you think no one is around is what you really are.

- Isaiah 29:15 - Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
- Ezekiel 8:12 - Then said He unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.
- Ecclesiastes 12:14 - For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Then pray:
- Psalm 19:12 - "Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
