A Boy Scout Tradition
by Rick Boxx
January 15, 2010

My wife and I attended an awards ceremony where a young man received his Eagle Scout designation. One of the special assignments required to become an Eagle is to design, develop, and perform a community service project.

The Boy Scouts wisely understand that young men need to serve others well, including their community. While many assume leadership is about power and selfish interests, I'm glad the Boy Scouts are still training young men to serve.

Jesus taught his disciples in Matthew 20:25-26, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant."

As leaders in the marketplace, don't forget the importance of serving others.
