Earlier this week I had the opportunity to attend a special screening of the next film in The Chronicles of Narnia franchise: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
While I won't give away all of the details or give you a full review here, if you've read the book (the third in the beloved series by C.S. Lewis) then you already know the story. Brother and sister Edmund and Lucy Pevensie—and their annoying cousin Eustace Scrubb—find themselves pulled into a painting of a ship (The Dawn Treader). Before they know it, they're standing on the deck with Caspian, who is King of Narnia.
The trio sails the sea with the rest of the ship's crew—including Reepicheep, the plucky warrior mouse—and encounter different places, obstacles and scary moments along the way. Each child is tempted and tested along their journey and must choose who and what will ultimately guide their choices and their lives. Most notable is Eustace's transformation into a dragon and his subsequent return to the form of a boy (thanks to Aslan).
Directed by Michael Apted, the film opens wide in 2D and 3D on December 10, 2010, and is rated PG for some frightening images and sequences of fantasy violence. The acting is stellar—particularly from Will Poulter as Eustace. He is perfectly cast!
Yes, I've seen already seen it once. But I'm planning on seeing it again come opening weekend, and hope that you, too, will join with me. For Narnia!
