Today as we look around at our neighborhoods and our nation, it's not hard to see our intellectual arrogance and our curious propensity to embrace broken ideas.

Like the wayward prodigal in Christ's parable, we are so starved and hungry for something meaningful and fulfilling that we are willing to try anything, even the "corncobs" of moral relativism and false "tolerance."

Over and over again we show we would rather walk in the "pig slop" and eat the "corncobs" of our own dysfunction and intellectual arrogance than follow God in humility.

We say we want to be "relevant" and "real" yet we are content in becoming nothing to ourselves and to others around us.

We take warped pride that we have a diminished voice with nothing to offer other than opinions in the marketplace of ideas.

We enjoy being an inconsequential hum rather than a bold voice. For boldness assumes answers and answers might suggest we are wrong.

So what is the solution?

It is simple. It is time for us to leave the corncobs and pig slop behind and just go home.

In a day when professors and politicians tell us that we don't even understand what the definition of "is" is . . .

In a day when we teach courses on ethics which refuse to discuss the personal moral issues of honesty and truthfulness . . .

It is time to go home.

Home to where we are humble about what is true rather than arrogant about what is false. Home to what is moral and right and pure. Home to ideas and virtues that are tested by time and confirmed by what is self-evident. Home to where truth is endowed by our Creator rather than made up by us.

Yes, the solution is to leave the pig slop behind and just go home.
