Can one man change the
world?
Can one man make a
difference?
Well, in1863 one man
named Abraham Lincoln told the people of Gettysburg that our "nation, [was] conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition
that all men are created equal…" and the world changed.
In 1941 one man named Winston Churchill told the citizens of United
Kingdom "Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never -- in
nothing, great or small, large or petty -- never give in…" and the world
changed.
In 1963 one
man named Martin Luther King Jr. told the citizens of the United States "I have a dream that …
one day [we will] live in a nation where [we] will not be judged by the color
of [our] skin but by the content of [our] character…" and the world changed.
In 1789 one
man named William Wilberforce told the British Parliament "God Almighty has set before me two great objects,
the suppression of the slave trade and the reformation of manners (morality)…"
and the world changed.
The list goes on.
The 56 men who in 1776 said "We hold these truths
to be self-evident..."
The man
named Kennedy who said, "Ask not what your country can do for you…"
The man
named Reagan who said, "Tear down this wall…"
The man
named Moses who said "Let my people go…"
The man
named Paul who said, "Love is patient, love is kind… love never fails…"
The next
time you are tempted to say it doesn't matter what you do because one man can't
change anything, think again. Remember movements
often start because of the convictions of just one man who says I don't care
what anyone else does I will "never give in" because "the buck stops here."
