Unforgiveness Begets Bitterness

Madison was angry with her church.  She had organized the Christmas program every year for the past 10 years.  This year she was asked to participate in the event with Nancy being deemed coordinator.

Madison’s pride was hurt and there was no way she was going to just be a helper.  She was so hurt and angry that she began to speak against the leaders in the church and spread dissention with anyone who would listen.

Madison became so inflamed, that she decided this was not the church where she belonged.  Taking it even further, Madison decided to isolate herself from any relationships with other Christians in this church.

As a result of her decision, she became bitter and very lonely.  She was missing out on encouraging words from those who wanted to love her.  She had closed herself off into a world where she believed she would not be hurt again.

(Hebrews 10:24-25a) "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.
