Analyzing the Supreme Court’s Decisions on Marriage

Jim Daly

I’m still away with my family in Virginia, but I was able to record an important broadcast on Wednesday’s Supreme Court rulings on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California’s Proposition 8.

On today’s Focus on the Family Daily Broadcast, you’ll hear as Dr. Al Mohler, Focus Board member and president of Southern Seminary and George Mason University law professor Helen Alvare and I discuss the rulings expected impact to families and the Church. (To read my post that discussed the rulings, click here.)

It was a heavy conversation at times, as the decisions were largely disappointing to those of us who believe in God’s design for marriage and family. However, I believe this is an important conversation. We’re to go into the future with our eyes wide open, knowledgeable of the challenges that may await us, but trusting and hopeful in the God Who sustains us.

As Dr. Mohler pointed out during our discussion, the only way to keep our spiritual buoyancy amidst tough times is to heed the Apostle Paul’s words and, “count it all a joy.” It’s only by keeping this spiritual perspective that we will be able to engage the culture and share God’s truth in a way that also proclaims His love.

I hope you’ll tune into this important conversation on your radio, or listen online.  Let me know what you think of the broadcast in the comments section below – I always appreciate it when you take the time to share your thoughts.
