VIDEO: Share in a Daly Family Annual Tradition

Jim Daly

This month, I’ve written about Focus on the Family’s involvement with Operation Christmas Child in two posts: How Shoeboxes Help Spread the Gospel and This Operation Christmas Child Grew Up and Paid It Forward.

Today I want to share with you how my family is personally involved with sharing our faith through this great program.

Our personal involvement is simple: We pack shoeboxes!

For some years now, we’ve been preparing boxes. We always choose gifts for boys since our sons, Trent and Troy, know exactly what to pick out for them. This year, my wife Jean took the boys shopping and I helped with the packing.

We enjoy spending this time together, serving as a family. It reminds us that God has blessed us so we can bless others, and it’s a great way to kick off the holiday season with the right heart.

Focus’ partnership with Operation Christmas Child includes a free PDF that explores why it’s important to serve others as a family or as a couple and offers practical ideas to get you started. Also, for a gift of any amount to Focus on the Family, Focus will donate a musical plush lamb that Operation Christmas Child will include in the shoeboxes that children around the world will receive. You can safely donate online.

I hope you’ll consider packing a shoebox this year – there’s still time! The collection week is scheduled for Nov. 18 to 25. And if you can’t pack your own box, you can always donate a “Jesus Loves Me” lamb via Focus on the Family.
