According to a civil rights group, the 200 Nigerian schoolgirls that were kidnapped are now being forced to marry members of the Boko Haram.

Halite Aliyu, spokesperson for the Borno-Yobe People’s Forum said that life for northeast Nigerians “has become nasty, short and brutish. We are living in a state of anarchy.”

Aliyu told the AP that the kidnapped girls are being sold into marriage to the militants for the equivalent of about 12 dollars.

Some have remained in Nigeria while others have been transported to Chad and Cameroon. The specific whereabouts of the young girls are still unknown.
