Feed the Need - Tuesday, June 17th 2014

2 Corinthians 9:6

"Remember this--a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop."

There is a part of each of us, a dark part, that does not want to give, that does not want to help others. We don't want to give in to that part of us. It will become stronger and darker. When you give, you give into the light, the better side, the best side of you. That spiritual part of you grows. When you give, the good part of you grows. When you don't give, the dark part of you grows stronger.

You are your own worst enemy--you will give yourself the hardest time and trouble. You struggle with you more than anyone else. In the beginning, you may not be very willing to give of your love, time or money but over time, the commitment grows stronger. You can find reasons to give, you can find reasons or excuses not to give, but you cannot undo that the Bible says, "We should give." God takes a lot of time and trouble to make sure we understand that if we give, we will be blessed much more than if we tried to keep what belongs to God. God is so giving and so kind, you can never out give God.

Life Lesson: To give or not to give is the battle between the dark, selfish part of us and the godly generous part of us. When we give, the good part of us wins and becomes stronger. When we don't give, the bad part of us wins and grows stronger.

Dear God,
Thank You for giving me eternal life through Jesus Christ. Thank You for giving me my life and even the ability to read this devotion. Because You have been so generous to me, help me to be generous to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Living to tell what He died to say,
