A Great Place to Grow - One Year Devotions for Women

So Jesus grew both in height and in wisdom, and he was loved by God and by all who knew him. - Luke 2:52

Home is a great place to grow. Jesus grew at home in four different ways. First of all, he grew in height. Home is a great place to play, to eat, to sleep, to develop a healthy physique. This is all preparation for God’s plan for your life.

Second, Jesus grew in wisdom. You gain wisdom and insight for yourself at home. You watch your mother and your father parenting, whether they do it right or do it wrong!

Third, Jesus was loved by God. The family is intended to be the place you learn the fundamental tenets of your faith, but the church is intended to supplement and deepen that knowledge. Jesus and his family always went to the synagogue (Luke 4:16).

Fourth, Jesus was also loved by all who knew him. We grow in favor with people when we live at home in a manner that honors him. If I am an angel in church, but a devil at home, what is the use of that? Home is an ideal place for the sort of growth that shows us how to get along with people. What better people than my brothers and sisters can teach me that! Home is a great place for breeding character—either good or bad.

Jesus increased in four ways—intellectually, physically, spiritually, and socially. Yes, home is a great place to grow!
