Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-31
Using something we're all very familiar with--our bodies--Paul lays out an easy to understand example of how we are all uniquely gifted by God to function in the Body of Christ. My favorite part of Paul's physical body example is where he explains that even though some gifts may not seem as grand or glamorous as others, in reality, each gift or member is absolutely necessary ("indispensable") to the proper functioning of the Body as a whole. Then Paul follows with verses 25-26 where we're told that God composed the Body of Christ "that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together." I was thankful for this reminder because if we're not careful we can lose sight of our indispensable role, which isn't good for us individually or for the Body.
How has God uniquely gifted you to serve and function in the Body of Christ? How does knowing the role you fill within the church body is indispensable impact your thinking and actions going forward? Tami
